Personal Action (grin)

I've done several triathlons and duathlons in the midwest both big and small. Here are some pics from the Bud Lite Series in Chicago. The swim start at Ohio Beach, a very crowded affair, sent off in age group waves. This race had 1600 entrants and the Chicago Sun Times Triathlon (now Mrs. T's) has over 4,000!!!!. After a 1.5K swim I'm on my way to the bike transition. The bike course, 40K, is a loop north then south and then back north on Lake Shore Drive. The run, 10K, takes you along the Lake Michigan waterfront south around Soldier's Field and then back north again to the finish line close to the swim start.

Another Olympic distance race I really enjoyed was The Lake Geneva Triathlon. This race is held each year in September (a bit chilly sometimes!!) on a very tough course. The 1.5K swim start is always facing a bright sunrise which makes navigation real tough. The 40K bike course is a very technical route due to many turns and finishes with rolling hills. Finally the 10K run course is out and back that is an extremely hilly roller coaster ride around the famous Yerkes Observatory.

I have not been able to compete in the last 5 years because of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.  I have more information on how overtraining may have caused this on my CFS pages.

My youngest daughter Jaclyn even tried her hand at a triathlon a few years ago!!!!!
